The problem isn't that there aren't enough candidates on the market.

There are plenty of mechanics, body shop technicians, and parts clerks out there, but you want them to be:

Certified

A candidate without the right certifications means a wasted interview and training at your expense. We want to avoid that at all costs.

Conscientious

In mechanics, a mistake doesn't stay in your garage. It hits the road. A poorly maintained vehicle puts lives at risk. We cannot afford to present negligent candidates.

Reliable

A technician who leaves means a client who waits, then looks elsewhere. Turnover in mechanics shows directly on your clientele. We make sure the next mechanic you hire stays.

In short, your challenge is that the good workers don't apply.

Qualified technicians aren't looking for work. They are working. We approach them where they are, before they even think about changing jobs.

Why do garages do their mechanical recruitment with us?

  • We know the industry. With over 100 placements in mechanics, we know how to recognize a good worker.
  • Our teams position every offer according to the market. Salaries, conditions, competition. With us, they get the full picture.
  • They have a recruiter dedicated to their mandate. SMS, phone, video call; always available when they need it.
  • We speak the language of the industry. That of head mechanics as well as parts clerks.

We don't just hire mechanics, we can also find you:

Heavy vehicle mechanic

Heavy vehicle mechanic

They are the ones who keep your fleet on the road. An immobilized truck means a missed delivery, a dissatisfied client, and money lost every hour.
Service advisor

Service advisor

They translate the mechanics' language for your clients. Without this link, clients leave without understanding what they paid for. And what people don't understand, they don't recommend.
Body shop technician

Body shop technician

They are the finishing touch on everything your team has accomplished. Impeccable mechanical work deserves a bodywork job to match.
Head mechanic

Head mechanic

They are the link between you and your shop. Without them, you manage problems one by one. A good head mechanic means a team that performs, standards that are maintained, and a shop you don't need to constantly oversee.
Automotive mechanic

Automotive mechanic

They are the one your client never sees, but judges every time they pick up their vehicle. Without them, you have no service. Every vehicle they put back on the road is your signature. Don't let the wrong hire hurt your image.
Heavy machinery mechanic

Heavy machinery mechanic

They maintain what keeps job sites moving. Poorly maintained equipment never breaks down at a good time. And when it does, everything stops.
Parts clerk

Parts clerk

They make sure your technicians have what they need, when they need it. A wrongly ordered part or an out-of-stock item means a vehicle stuck on the lift. A bad parts clerk slows down your entire shop.

Frequently asked questions

Why is mechanical recruitment more difficult than in other sectors?

Garages and mechanical shops are everywhere in Quebec, and they all need staff. In this sector, more technicians on the floor means more clients served, therefore more revenue. Demand never runs short. The problem is that good mechanics know this, and they usually already have a job. Mechanical recruitment therefore requires a proactive and strategic approach. Waiting for a good profile to apply simply does not work.

What are the certifications in mechanics in Quebec and which ones matter?

In Quebec, the basic certification in automotive mechanics is the DEP in automotive mechanics, a 1,800-hour program covering vehicle mechanical and electronic systems. Once on the job, the technician first obtains their apprentice competency card from the Joint Committee of the Automotive Services Industry (CPA), then becomes a journeyman mechanic after four years of apprenticeship. For heavy road vehicles, the DEP in heavy road vehicle mechanics or the ASP in specialized heavy equipment mechanics is generally required. For an employer, the most important certifications remain the CPA competency card and the DEP relevant to the type of vehicles worked on in your shop. Experience with specific brands or systems often counts just as much as the diploma.

What is the difference between a heavy vehicle mechanic and a heavy machinery mechanic?

These are two distinct specialties despite a similar name. A heavy vehicle mechanic works primarily on trucks, buses, and all heavy road vehicles. They are found mainly in transportation companies, delivery fleets, and shops specialized in commercial vehicles. A heavy machinery mechanic, on the other hand, maintains and repairs job site equipment such as excavators, mechanical shovels, graders, and bulldozers. Their work environment is construction. The skills partially overlap, but the equipment, environments, and employers are completely different.

To recruit a body shop technician, how do you evaluate their skills before hiring?

A good body shop technician is first recognized by the way they talk about their trade. If they master the technical terminology, can explain their work method on a complex repair, and their resume shows varied experience, that is already a good sign. Our recruiters know the industry vocabulary and can tell a solid candidate from one who simply interviews well. After that, real skills are validated in the field. A trial day remains one of the best ways to confirm work quality. And if something goes wrong after hiring, our 3-month replacement guarantee covers all risks.

Why hire a headhunter for a common role in mechanics?

It is precisely in the most common roles that a headhunter makes all the difference. For a very niche position, candidates with that specific experience often know each other and already know the employers in the field. But for an automotive mechanic or a shop technician, there are hundreds of garages recruiting at the same time. Good profiles are already working and not looking. Our job is to approach them directly and present your opportunity before your competitor does.
